Micromax realeasing Canvas Knight with octa-core processor, 16MP camera coming tomorrow

    Canvas Knight coming soon

Micromax has been hard at work teasing the Canvas Knight for quite some time. The company had released short teasers during a recent cricket tournament and has been counting down to the announcement date on Facebook as well. The teasers started three days ago and each day, Micromax has revealed a clearer glimpse of the phone. It has also been teasing some of the specs and features.

For one, the Micromax Canvas Knight will definitely have an octa-core processor. One of the teasers (seen below) says the phone will have the power of eight. Given recent launches of the Intex Aqua Octa and the Gionee Elife E7 Mini, Micromax will likely use the latest MediaTek processor the MT6592 for the phone.

Will the Canvas Knight have a higher resolution than full HD?

Secondly, the phone will have an HD display. It is likely to be full HD, though Micromax claims it’s ‘Beyond High Definition’. Is the company hinting at a 2K or a QHD display?

Another video on YouTube tells us more about the specs of the phone and also gives us a look at the design. The Micromax Canvas Knight will have a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. It will also have 2GB of RAM, along with the octa-core processor. Interestingly, Micromax has applied its own UI customisations to stock Android this time. The icon set is brighter and the icons look larger than one is used to seeing on a Micromax phone. We don’t know whether Micromax’s customisations stretch beyond just the launcher and trickle into system apps such as Messaging, Email etc, like we have seen on Samsung, HTC and Sony phones.

By the looks of it, the phone will have a very plain design, at least when it comes to the front. The back has a glossy finish and it could be made out of glass like in the Sony Xperia Z-series phones.

The last issue of contention will be the price of the phone. With the Canvas Turbo being launched for close to Rs 18,000, we think the Canvas Knight will be priced close to Rs 20,000 or even over it. Whatever it is, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
